The Southern Cover Crop Council | Mini-Grant Opportunities

The Southern Cover Crop Council is developing a web-based Cover Crop Resource Guide for the Southern Region with funding by Southern SARE.  The purpose of the Guide is to provide information for farmers so they can successfully use cover crops.  The Guide is organized by production system (row crop, vegetable, or grazing) and major physiographic region (Blackland-heavy smetic clay soils, Central Lowland Plains, Coastal Plain/Ouchaita, Delta, Great Plains, Interior Low Plateaus/Ozark Plateau, Mountains/Ridge & Valley/Piedmont, Sub-Tropics, and Tropics).  This type of organization is crucial because production practices such as cover crop species, tillage, planting dates, and termination dates vary substantially across different parts of the Southern region due to a wide variety of soils, climates and production systems.

Proposals for mini-grants are to develop information for specific production system/physiographic provinces.  NGOs are encouraged to apply.

Three mini-grants of $5,500 each will be awarded.  Details are in the attached Request for Proposal. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM EST, June 22, 2018.
