The topics will include: "A Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop; Growing Warm Season Crops; High Tunnel Production and Construction; Legal Assistance to Farmers; and Vendor Opportunities". Top experts will provide hands-on demonstrations, and information critical to farmer/grower success.
Heirloom Fruit Tree Grafting Workshop
Dr. Wayne Porter and Dr. Jeff Wilson, Regional Extension Specialists with Mississippi State University Extension Service will conduct a hands-on fruit tree grafting workshop. Participants will learn the grafting techniques used by the pros and go home with four completed bench grafted trees, ideal for home orchards.
Growing Warm Season Crops
Dr. David Nagel, Horticulture Specialist with Mississippi State University will help farmers and growers decide what crops to grow and how to grow them. He will focus on selecting the right varieties for our region, planting dates, disease resistance and tolerance, pest control, crop rotation, and more.
High Tunnel Production and Construction
Dr. Bill Evans, Associate Research Professor with Mississippi State University will help farmers and growers with their high tunnel production and construction issues.
Legal Assistance to Farmers
Faculty and students from the University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic will be on hand to provide FREE one-on-one consultations with farmers on legal and business issues. Come take advantage of this wonderful resource or call them directly for help at #662-915-7429.
