Agricultural Outreach and Education Associate Job Summary:
 
Maintain and enhance the Farmland Preservation program including education and outreach to qualifying new landowners, renewing expiring participants, and assist Agricultural Advisory Committee with updating Farmland Protection Plan. Present workshops and community outreach events that highlight sustainable management practices. Member will interact with farmers, citizens and consumers on a daily basis both in and out of the office. Assist with monthly Friends of Agriculture Breakfasts and Annual Farm Tour. Other community education opportunities as deemed appropriate. Flexibility is incorporated into the position allowing for the member to develop area specific projects that align with the mission of this office and AmeriCorps Project Conserve.
 
About AmeriCorps Project Conserve:
 
AmeriCorps Project Conserve is a National Service program in which members come from across the nation to dedicate themselves to serving western North Carolina for an 11 month service term.  Members are selected based on skill, education, experience, passion and commitment to service.  Project Conserve was founded in September of 2004 as an initiative of Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy (CMLC) to respond to the growing conservation needs in western North Carolina.  The program focuses on collaboration with nonprofit organizations, community groups and local governments to provide service throughout the region.

AmeriCorps Project Conserve is administered by Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy and funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service in the office of Governor Roy Cooper, and the critical support of host sites and community partners.
