Internet-Based Services: Training
The
Internet-Based Services project is designed to address the special
needs of family farmers, including those with limited computer experience,
and to help these farmers take advantage of all the internet can
offer producers.
Basic
Training
Southern
SAWG conducted sessions on internet usage for farmers at 5 conferences
around the South during 2004 and early 2005. This basic training
helped to demystify the internet and demonstrate the usefulness
of this inexpensive resource. Basic training sites included
Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture's Digging Deeper Conference,
KSU's Third Thursday Thing, VA Association for Biological Farming
Conference, and Southern SAWG's annual conference.

Intensive
Training
In
cooperation with NCAT/ATTRA, we conducted hands-on training sessions
for producers and producer groups who met certain project criteria
as determined by the Project Advisory Team. This intensive
training increased general knowledge of the internet, demonstrated
its usefulness, provided hands-on training in accessing and utilizing
a variety of internet-based services and increased productive use
of the internet.
