Welcome to Our New Conference Coordinator

Southern SAWG is very pleased to announce that Tavia Benjamin has been hired as our Conference Coordinator for the 2018 conference in Chattanooga. Tavia brings an exciting blend of experience in conference coordination, training, facilitation and strategic relationship building in a healing and anti-racist framework to Southern SAWG. She coordinated the 2014 and 2015 Service to Justice Conferences in Washington D.C. as well as the launch of the HEAL (Health, Environment, Agriculture, Labor) Food Alliance earlier this year. Tavia has also served as a Senior Project Manager with the Center for Community Change and was a “D.C. Place Matters Equity Fellow” with Bread for the City. We are very excited to have Tavia on our team!

SAWG Seeks Conference Coordinator

Southern SAWG (Sustainable Agriculture Working Group) is seeking an experienced Conference Coordinator to manage and carry out the 2018 Southern SAWG Conference (Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms). The Conference will be held January 17-20, 2018 in Chattanooga, TN. The Southern SAWG Conference attracts over 1,200 farmers and agricultural professionals annually. This event is regarded as the South's leading sustainable agriculture and food system learning event. 2018 will be the 28th annual conference for the organization.

Jean Mills, SAWG's Conference Organizer, Retires

Southern SAWG announces the resignation of Jean Mills as of May 31, 2017. Jean has been one of the constant faces of the organization for almost as long as Southern SAWG has existed. She has been involved in just about every facet of Southern SAWG’s work, including the organizing of the last 23 of Southern SAWG’s 26 annual conferences.
