    Southern SAWG Conference Plans

Development of our 2012 Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms Conference is in full swing.  With feedback from past conference participants and our 17 member advisory committee, we’ve determined what pre-conference courses and regular conference sessions to offer this year and have about ¼ of the presenters secured.  This is the exciting part of the conference planning because we get to talk to innovative farmers and community food advocates from all around the South to learn what they can add to the conference program.

Conference Coordinator Jean Mills says “we’re also working right now to determine which combination of farms will offer our conference participants the most practical information that they can use back home. I didn’t realize how many excellent farms there are near Little Rock!"

With a rapidly growing “local foods” movement in Little Rock, there is considerable excitement that so many sustainable farmers and community food advocates from around the region will be coming to their doorsteps. And those attending the conference who haven’t been to Little Rock recently may be in for a very pleasant surprise.”
