Alliance Field Day [MS]

  • Prentiss, MS

Topics will include: “Expanding Market Opportunities; On-Line Presence; Featuring Farm’s Specialty Crops: Watermelons, Tomatoes, and Squash”.  Dr. Roberto Gallardo, Leader, Intelligent Community Institute and Associate Extension Professor from Mississippi State University will help farmers and organizations build their on-line presence with social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, websites, blogs, mobile apps, and more.  Laptop computers will be available or you can bring your own!  Elizabeth Myles, Marketing Specialist with Alcorn State University will discuss the importance of planning, available market opportunities, and promotion strategies.  

Participant will also tour and learn from PL88 Farms, in Prentiss, MS. 

The farm is owned and operated by Ozell & Jerleen White.  Since starting the farm, they have worked to find the best possible fertilizer and seeds needed to grow the best and sweetest watermelons in the country.  TALK WILL INCLUDE HOW TO INCREASE WATERMELON PRODUCTION AND REACH LARGER AND LARGER MARKETS!
