SOUTHERN SAWG E-NEWSLETTER, VOL. 1, #2                                                               SEPTEMBER 2005

Dear Friends,

We have all been touched in some way by the effects of Hurricane Katrina. This issue focuses on current opportunities for contributing resources to the relief effort for farmers in the region and provides information for those in need of assistance. The strength and dedication of the sustainable agriculture community in the Southern region has always been encouraging. We are now faced with yet another chance to give what we can, or to accept what we need. As more information for contributors and for sources of assistance becomes available, we will post it to the Southern SAWG web site. Please share opportunities with us via email at SSAWG@aol.com, and check with us often for updated info.

Many thanks,

--Your friends at Southern SAWG

Southern SAWG Conference
WILL BE HELD
January 19 - 22, 2006

Southern SAWG was planning to return to the Hilton New Orleans Airport Hotel in Kenner, LA for our upcoming Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms annual conference.

Due to the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, we suspect we will have to relocate the conference. One way or the other, we WILL have the conference. We will post information about the conference location as soon as we talk with local hotel officials.

We wish to thank all the people in the New Orleans area for their hospitality during last year's conference. And, we encourage all our partners, friends, and family members to contribute whatever and however they can to the recovery and rebuilding efforts throughout the affected region.
